Niphon Works, Villiers Street

This is the central bay of what is otherwise a very
plain and functional factory building of the late 19th century.
Amongst the confusion of elements is the course of terracotta in the
gable. It seems worth including here as showing how terracotta
might be added to mix when a flashy presentation was called for. The
building was originally occupied by a firm which specialised in art
metalware and presumably had pretensions to style and taste.
