Edge's Shoe Factory
Wellington Road, Bilston
A landmark building on the road into Bilston from
Wolverhampton, it once was home to Edge's Shoes, a major employer in the
area. Amongst other bits of terracotta, note the segmental arches
and keystones above the windows: this seems to be a characteristic use
of terracotta in Bilston.
The cartouche on the pediment above the doorway gives the
original name: "Forward Shoe Factory".
